About
Since about high school, I have been approached by people, acquaintances, friends, strangers, who seem all too eager to tell me exactly who I look like. This happens on average at least once a week. Sometimes it’s a friend of theirs that I don’t know, other times its a movie star, someone popular now or ten years ago, or even fifty years ago. In an acting class I was once told that I could play anyone’s sister. It seems I look just like everyone else, except more familiar. People even sometimes come up to me convinced that they already know me somehow. I would always have to politely reply, “No, I just look like a lot of people” when really all I wanted to say was “you are an idiot! I look like ME! OKAY?!?!” At some point, however, an acting mentor recommended every time someone gets another person’s vibe from me, I look into it and learn from it. An interesting, although semi-exhausting suggestion that I’m now trying to uphold. I am the type of person who learns more from example than from books or numbers, or lectures and teachings, so its interesting to me to try and learn about how I might be like anyone else, and what that can mean.
